Safety Update for St. Joseph School Families

This morning around 10:00 a.m., school staff noticed an individual walking on the west side of the school grounds with what appeared to be a weapon. Out of an abundance of caution, the school immediately initiated a full lockdown and contacted the Paris Police Department.

Our staff and students followed safety procedures, and all students remained secure inside the building during the lockdown. We are grateful for the quick response from the Paris Police Department, who promptly located the individual.

Once law enforcement gave the all clear, the lockdown was lifted and we safely resumed normal school activities. We sent a text via our notification system to all families, but unfortunately due to system malfunction some families were not notified. We are attempting to rectify the communication situation.

Please know that no students or staff were harmed, and everyone remained safe throughout the situation. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, and we appreciate the professionalism of our team and the swift response of our local law enforcement.

Thursday at 2:30 there will be a parade of Favorite Book Characters! Students will parade around the cafeteria as part of our Read Across America celebration. It's been a great week and we're not finished yet!! Families are welcome to come and cheer on our students!!

📚🎉 Dr. Seuss Week Kicks Off Monday! 🎉📚 We are excited to celebrate the joy of reading as we begin Dr. Seuss Week this Monday at St. Joseph Catholic School! To start the week, we’re hosting Family Story Day — a special day to honor the traditions and stories that make each family unique. ❤️ Students are invited to: 📖 Wear something that represents their family tradition 📚 Bring an item that connects to a special family story or memory Whether it’s a favorite book, a cultural tradition, a family keepsake, or something that represents a special memory, we can’t wait to see the meaningful ways our students share their stories. Let’s celebrate reading, family, and the wonderful stories that connect us all! ✨

🎉📚 AR Goal Celebration! ☕✨ Friday we celebrated our amazing students who met or exceeded their Accelerated Reader goals for 2nd quarter with 85% or higher test accuracy — and what a sweet reward it was! These hard-working readers enjoyed hot cocoa and a special showing of Coco as a fun way to recognize their dedication, growth, and love for reading. We are so proud of the effort they put into building strong reading habits and challenging themselves this quarter! 👏 Congratulations to all of our readers — your hard work truly shows! We are so grateful for the wonderful tour and for sharing the rich history and beauty of the church with our students. Your time, knowledge, and hospitality made this visit both meaningful and memorable for everyone involved. Thank you for helping bring faith and history to life for our school community!
